Close readers of this blog may have been wondering why it has been so quiet of late. Truth is, I’ve just been a bit busy. This has always just been a hobby for me, something that I’ve enjoyed doing on nights and weekends for eight years now.
Well, now I am leaving my day job and going to work full time to end the clock insanity in the one place that I just might be able to get it done: The United States House of Representatives.
That’s why I’m announcing today that I am a candidate! I’m running in the district I was born in one part of, worked in another part of, and live in a third part. (The district is bigger than New York State, has 26 counties, spans the Continental Divide and has three National Parks. It is currently represented by Rep. Lauren Boebert.)
I will have much more to say about Daylight Saving Time, and about our relationship to politics and government, but mostly I will be doing that on the campaign site: scottyates.com.
If you are reading this, it is because you know about this issue, and care about it.
Given that, my one request is that you share that site far and wide, and register on that site for updates. My hunch is that we have now reached a place in our society where we can actually get this fixed with someone who is going to talk about this issue, a lot, and not do any negative campaigning at all. You watch me, and you will see that this will be a totally positive effort to not just talk about how politics can be better, but to actually make it happen.
So, thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for doing all you can to support my candidacy. You won’t be doing it for me, or even for yourself. You’ll be doing it to show the world that we can make things better by focusing on what we agree on.
