I know that headline doesn’t make a ton of sense.
In short, it’s my way of saying that it is time for me to get back to work on this blog. I’ve been ignoring it for a while, even though there is plenty going on. Sorry about that. It’s what happens when fixing something as complex as time is only a hobby.
I do think about it quite often, especially this time of year when the sunrises are late enough that it is relatively easy to get out and get a spectacular sunrise shot, as I did a few mornings ago:
Taking walks on mornings like that make me think about what it might be like in the dark of winter, when the sun comes up even later, that we might all be consigned to an inky darkness in the mornings. Especially people who live on the far west sides of their respective time zones would have really really late sunrises.
We know that the canard about kids not being safe going to school is just wrong, the research shows that clearly. But it will be different. Different good? Different bad? We just don’t know and it’s really hard to think about in the abstract.
That’s why I’m a believer that whatever decision we make as a society—about which way we should #LockTheClock—that it should have a full year before it is implemented. That way we can all really take measure of what things would be like. It may well be that the answer is just different for states at different sides of a time zone. As I’ve written here before many times, it’s a bit crazy that Massachusetts and Main are in the same time zone as Indiana.
So, I’ll be writing about that, keeping up with any new bills that get introduced around the country, and being as helpful as I can be to lawmakers, journalists, citizens and more as we get into one of the twin busy seasons in the #LockTheClock movement.
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
